Talent vs. Skill

Talent is the ability to anticipate into the future without fear. Skill is the ability to do what you do subconsciously.

Let’s use a fishing metaphor, shall we?

Your subconscious skills are running the boat, checking the wind, and setting up a line where you’re going to use a shoulder motor where you can control the boat. Your skill is flipping that jig in right where you want it.

Your skill is knowing what to do with that rod and reel without having to think about it or getting backlashes. Those are all skill things.

But your true talent, your ability to perform is tied a hundred percent to your ability to anticipate the future even though you’re right here.
