Excellence as a Way of Life
There’s a direct correlation between the way you practice and the way you perform.
Most shooters’ evaluation of their ability is a little or (in some instances) a lot higher than reality, and their commitment to improve their ability is in the work they’re continuing to avoid.
You must begin to accept nothing less than excellence. Notice we didn’t say right or wrong – excellence. Strive for excellence. Never strive for perfection. Strive for excellence in everything you do. To produce excellence in your shooting you must begin to accept nothing less than excellence in every other thing else you do – not just in your shooting game, but in practice and in becoming a positive person on the course.
Mastery occurs when you have – by choice – made a conscious effort to change who you are into someone who, regardless of the situation in which you find yourself, can control their brain well enough to turn every situation into a positive.
You must begin to train your mind to be stronger than your feelings. When you can begin to center on that, it’s a super powerful thing. And the first place it’s going to show up is when you want to blurt out something, but you know it’s going to be negative, and you have to stop and rethink.
