Charge to Our Shooters
Never be defined by your last shot. Always be defined by your next shot.
When you look at things as going bad, that’s where you lose it. Never evaluate the score until the last shot is fired. That is a mindset, not a trick or technique. Eventually, you will find yourself in a position to win a shoot. The sad thing is, you must find yourself in a position to win and then lose because you became hesitant and shot not to miss. That’s how you know what it takes to maintain the right frame of mind to finish, regardless of results – not the last shots.
We teach our shooters to look at competition as an opportunity to evaluate their total game. And the only way the evaluation is valid is if they give each shot 100 percent. When you look at each shot as an opportunity to learn something then regardless of hit or miss, it becomes interesting. And then you really begin to learn and improve.
Our charge to our shooters is to always be looking for a target you cannot break and at every turn in your life, put yourself in front of others with an opportunity to fail big in front of them. That way, every situation becomes a learning opportunity and when it is their time to win, they will be ready to win and will discover the win after the last shot is fired.
